CGE and UNION UNIVERSITY cordially invite all Presidents, Academic Officers, International Program Directors, Faculty and Interested Staff to Union University, for the Annual Meeting of the Consortium for Global Education (CGE) to be held from Wednesday evening until Friday noon, September 22-24, 2010.

CGE international partners and overseas colleagues will present highlights of their programs that support the mission statement of CGE and our members.  A new series of partnerships have grown from the two mainline programs of CGE: AmeriStudy and Global Connections.  Representatives from CGE’s hub centers in Amman, Jordan; Qingdao, China and Bangkok, Thailand, will present and be available to meet with attendees.  The new proposed centers in Bahrain and Lithuania will also share during the Plenary Sessions. Presidents from our partner schools in China (Qingdao University, Chongching University, Ludong University) will participate as well as Sripatum University, Reading University, Cardiff University, and others.  Representatives from CGE’s first Affiliate member, LCC International University, will help us celebrate the new members. 

Workshop sessions and general meeting times will focus on the ways that CGE can add value to each international program:

  • Global Connection Overseas Models - (Sydney, Australia; Quito, Ecuador; Amman, Jordan; Qingdao, China; and Lithuania) – Please attend if you are associated with the International programs on your campus, want to have faculty involvement overseas, and are interested in setting up strategic locations for overseas study.
  • Student Study Abroad Programs – Getting students and growing your International Study Opportunities - Please attend if you are a Study Abroad Coordinator, and/or Faculty involved with overseas programs.
  • AmeriStudy - Recruiting international students from strategic areas in Asia and the Middle East. Please attend if you are involved with International Recruiting, admissions, International Study Services, etc.
  • Security Needs and Preparations - For students and faculty engaged in going abroad – Please attend if you are an administrator and/or faculty leader responsible for establishing security guidelines.
     
  • Integrating Overseas Programs with Service and Learning – Please attend if you are faculty or university personnel wanting to participate in courses or programs overseas that fully integrate academic credit and service opportunities.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

Please make your own reservations directly with the hotel.  Rooms are held in reserve at the listed hotels.  Please make your reservations asking to be booked as part of the Union University / CGE Conference block of rooms  to get the group discount at the hotels below.  You must make your reservations by the deadline indicated to take advantage of the rate discount.  Indicate your hotel choice on your registration form.

Transportation

Transportation to Union University from the hotels above will be provided via university vehicles if required.  Please indicate on your registration if you will require University transportation.

AIrport Transportation

There are three airports that service the Jackson Tennessee area.  Please note the distances below from the airports to Jackson.  It will be necessary to rent a car and drive from the Airport to your selected hotel in Jackson.

Registration

Please pre-register at your earliest convenience.  For those not pre-registered, we will provide for Registration at Union University on September 22 is between 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. and again at 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, September 23.

CGE will be collecting a $100 registration fee from each attendee to help with the Annual Meeting expenses. Please pay through the online registration process or mail a check payable to Consortium For Global Education, 200 Ashford Center North, Suite 305, Atlanta, GA 30338-2668.

Non-registered spouses attending the Thursday evening banquet will need to pay $25.00 at the conference registration table. Thank you for all your cooperation and planning for the best CGE Annual Meeting ever!!

Schedule


Campus signs will direct you to parking that will be reserved in the surrounding lots.

Early registration will begin at 5:30 PM with a new Welcome session for all early arrivals at 7:00 PM on the Union campus.

CGE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: There will be a CGE Executive Committee meeting and dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening on the Union campus. At 7:00 p.m. the Executive Committee will join the early arrivals at a Welcome on the Union campus.

A Continental breakfast will be provided Thursday morning on campus beginning at 8:15 a.m. as attendees complete Registration.

The Thursday morning session will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude by noon. Lunch will be a time of fellowship. The afternoon session will begin at 1:15 p.m. with a Speaker for the 2nd Plenary Session followed by three options for workshop sessions meeting from 2:00 – 3:30.  At 4:00 PM CGE will hold the Annual Business Meeting***.

 ***Please Note that during the Annual Meeting, Presidents of the Member institutions hold the voting capacity for CGE.  If they are not present they can send their proxy to another President or designate someone at their university or college who is attending to vote for them.  We ask that the President inform the CGE office at info@cgedu.org who will vote for them in their eventual absence.

On Thursday evening, CGE invites all registered participants to be guests of the University at a banquet at 7:00 p.m. hosted by Dr. Dockery.

The Friday morning session will begin at 8:15 with Continental breakfast and the choice of one of two new workshops beginning at 8:45 a.m. and meeting until 10:00 a.m.  The 4th and Final Plenary Session will begin at 10:15 a.m. and will conclude by noon.
 
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: There will also be a lunch at 11:45 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. on Friday for Executive Committee members, Plenary Speakers, and international guests.
