Exchange Visiting Scholars

The CGE Research Institute (CRI) provides the opportunity for faculty to participate in collaborative research within CGE's member universities. Each year papers are submitted to the Research Institute review board. Invitations are issued for selected papers to be presented in person or virtually to the CGE Annual Meeting.

As this program has grown rapidly, the Research Institute is in contact with many overseas faculty members who would like to come visit one of the CGE member universities in the USA and share their area of research interest. This Exchange Visitor Scholar program, sponsored through the Research Institute, facilitates the overseas faculty and CGE host campus to investigate their common research interests and investigate a possible 2 or 3 week experience to visit the USA campus.

Overseas Faculty can send their proposals for research and interest in the Exchange Visitor program through their member contact person to the CGE Research Institute. If you are a faculty member of a CGE member contact Dr. Jeff Moore (research@cgedu.org) to begin this process and find out who on your campus is the main CGE Research Institute contact.

Approved proposals will be listed on this page for CGE member leaders and faculty to review and express their interest to CRI to contact that faculty member.

CGE can facilitate the 2 or 3 week visit through CGE's J-1 Short Term Scholar visa program through SEVIS.  Visiting Scholars pay the US Department of State SEVIS J-1 visa fee of $220 directly to SEVIS. USA host universities pay the $150 CGE Research Institute Fee for initiating the match.

Each Exchange Faculty and USA campus pairing will be dependent on their jointly agreed upon described program experience, faculty collaboration, length of time and cost responsibilities.

Currently the Research Institute suggests that the Exchange Scholar's campus or sponsor provide the round-trip airfare from their nation to the USA campus. It is recommended that the host USA campus provide accommodation, food plan, and logistical support for the J-1 Short Term Scholar program experience.
